Forced distribution – no more?

Michael Dell at the first all Executive meeting of the new “private” Dell company announced the end of the bell curve in the annual rating process. Yep… seriously. He and the HR team called it “forced distribution”, but thats what they meant…

ImageI don’t have anything to add since I’ve not seen any details of the replacement. See my recent blog for at least my view on why the concept might have been good, at least Jack Welsh thought it was, but the implementation at both tech behemoths I’ve worked at was broken, as well as many other companies I’ve worked with, both customers and suppliers. One word, constraints.
