I don’t know where to start. This Virgin Mobile commercial has been showing on TV and the web recently. I can’t work out what I’m most offended about:
- It makes wasting valuable resources, that the phones are made from, seem irrelavant and OK
- It depicts and encourages people to be dishonest in a way that doesn’t matter and for which there are no consequences
- It bears more than a passing resemblance to the what many, outside America, think Americans have become, arrogant, wasteful and deceitful
- It isn’t funny
Before anyone jumps in and accuses me of overlooking the fact that the add is by that famous Brit’ Richard Branson and the UK’s Virgin Mobile, it isn’t. I actually think Sir Richard Branson would have never condoned or approved such an asinine, insulting commercial. I never asked him though.
Virgin Mobile USA, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sprint Nextel Corporation and looking at the Virgin Mobile website, you have to look pretty hard to find that out, the clue is that legal notices and legal demands under the DMCA, have to go to:
